地理科

Geography is one of the subjects in the Key Learning Area of Personal, Social and Humanities Education.  We tailor-make our school-based curriculum according to The Curriculum Guide prepared by The Curriculum Development Council, Education Bureau HKSAR.  We provide Geography courses for students from Form One to Form Six in this school.

地理為個人、社會及人文教育學習領域內的其中一個學科。 我們根據香港教育局課程發展議會編訂的課程指引,剪裁及編輯具體校本課程內容,為本校中一至中六各級同學提供適切的地理課程。

 

Aims 宗旨

Geography put emphasis on concepts, elaboration and analysis.  Through enquiry of the major issues in society, students are trained to have independent thinking and critical judgment.  As the relationship in social issue is typically complicated, students need to make good use of the appropriate geographical concepts for objective and rational evaluation.

In the enquiry process, students also need to apply appropriate skills.  These include field study, data collection, map reading, use of Geoinformatics, graph design, calculation of indices and writing reports.

 

We have organized field studies across many forms, hoping that our students can learn, understand, protect and appreciate the natural environment.  Our Geography student should be an educated and responsible citizen who is willing to strive for sustainable development of our society, country and the entire world.

地理課程以概念為先,著重思考及分析。 通過對社會各大議題的探究,培養學生獨立思考及批判的能力。 社會議題因果關係千絲萬縷,同學須有效運用適當的地理概念,作出客觀及理性的評估。

探究過程中,學生須要具備運用相關技能的能力,包括進行野外考察、收集數據、地圖閱讀、使用地理資訊系統軟件、設計圖表、計算指標及撰寫報告等等。

我們在各級組織考察活動,希望學生能接觸、了解、愛護、以至欣賞大自然環境。讓地理學生成為具見識和負責任的公民,願意為社會、國家和全球的福祉的可持續發展作出貢獻。

 

Objectives in this year 年度目標

Our school has actively worked in line with the Medium of Instruction (MOI) fine-tuning policy for secondary schools. The MOI has been changed to English.  Our teachers are now working hard to prepare the learning resources in English.  We hope to help students adapt the change of MOI, and at the same time keep the learning efficiency in Geography.

 

Some of our senior form Geography students also choose English as the MOI in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination.  They have to overcome language barrier in the keen competition of the public examination.  Our teachers definitely need to have professional stance to support and help students face this challenge. Facing the drastic changes in education reform, our panel has to mobilize resources to ensure learning efficiency and keep stable performance in the public examinations.

 
本校積極配合政府的教學語言微調政策,我們的地理已改為以英語授課。 老師們正努力編訂英語教材,讓學生能適應以英語學習之餘,又不損學習地理概念的成效。

中學文憑試的部分地理同學也選擇以英語應考,他們既要克服語言障礙,又要應付競爭激烈的公開試,老師確實要以崇高專業的精神,鼓勵及協助學生面對挑戰。面對教改的衝擊,學科須要有效調配資源,確保教學效率,在各公開試維持穩定的成績。
